Thanksgiving is just three days away! While you may have had your menu planned for the past month, have you put any thought into your table design? We created a beautiful cedar box that will put the finishing touches on your Thanksgiving meal. This box is a perfect centerpiece for your Thanksgiving dinner because it’s gorgeous, but small enough not to get in the way. And you’ll only need a few materials to make it!

Bonus: If you made the cedar candle box we posted during Christmas last year, all you have to do is change the contents.

For this project you’ll need:

  • 1 box of CedarBerry Hill Aromatic Cedar Drawer Liners (pick these up at www.cedarsafe.com!)
  • Adhesive (Any type of clear-drying wood glue or outdoor adhesive will work—We used Loctite Stik’n Seal)
  • A Saw
  • A Pencil & Rules
  • Greenery, Pumpkins, and other decorative material

To make this box as easy as possible, the length of our candle box is the same length as the drawer liners—that way you only have to cut the end pieces.

We’ll start by measuring and cutting the end pieces. You’ll be able to cut both pieces from one liner. Take the liner that you’d like to cut and mark out two sections that are 4 ¼” wide, and cut along those lines with your saw.

Now that you have all of your pieces ready, you can sand down any rough edges made from cutting and make sure that all the pieces fit together.

Then, start gluing! We started by gluing the two long sides to the bottom piece. We put one long line of glue along the bottom of each side piece and held it in place against the bottom piece while the glue set. Some glues have faster set times than others, so be aware of that!

Once your long sides have set, you can glue the ends. This time you’ll just glue along each side as well as the bottom.

Depending on the glue you used, give your box a few hours to dry before adding your decorations.
