Are you running out of closet storage space and don’t have the budget for a costly home remodel?
When modern-day closets are just not enough, you should consider adding a 17th century closet to your home, also known as a wardrobe. Your wardrobe doesn’t have to be as ornate (or expensive) as what the furniture company may offer, but it does need to be functional. Adding Aromatic Cedar Closet Liners from CedarSafe is a great way to transform even a multipurpose storage cabinet, which you can purchase at your local building supplies store, into a safe place to store your valuable clothing.

Tools Required:
- Medium-weight claw hammer
- Tri-Square
- Saw with fine teeth
- Miter Box (helpful, but not essential)
- Paneling Nails or Brad Nailer
- Oil-Based Adhesive
- CedarSafe Natural Closet Liner Aromatic Cedar Planks
Preparation: Store planks in the same area as where the closet will reside for 24-48 hours, allowing the cedar to acclimate to the environment.
Step1: Assemble a free-standing multipurpose cabinet according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Decide on the location of the shelving. However, do not install the doors, door hardware, or closet rod until after installation of the Aromatic Cedar planks, which is explained in the following steps.
Step 2: Starting on the back wall of the first section, install Cedar planks horizontally. Apply adhesive to the back of the plank. Place grooved edge down against the floor of the closet, and fit it into the corner.
Step 3: To finish the back wall, place and glue additional planks. Repeat until you reach the top of the section. At the top, rip pieces to fill any remaining gaps, if necessary.
Step 4: Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to cover the side walls, cutting or drilling the wood to accommodate the closet hardware. Use paneling nails in addition to glue on the side walls for extra stability. (You may want to install side wall planks as you move up each row on the back wall to help stabilize the back planks as they dry.)
Step 5: If desired, cover the top and bottom of the section for extra protection.
Step 6: Repeat Steps 2 through 5 to cover remaining sections of the wardrobe.
Step 7: Install hardware and doors.
Step 8: No further finishing required.
